The collected works of the extraordinary early twentieth-century Australian poet John Shaw Nielson. According to Peter Kirkpatrick, the self-educated Nielson read and was influenced by the French symbolist poet Paul Verlaine, while working as an itinerant farm labourer out in the Wimmera and the Mallee. (Kirkpatrick, The Cambridge History of Australian Literature, 2009, p.206). No need to invent Ern Malley. He already existed.
Condition: Dust jacket torn along spine and top and bottom, pages are foxed and tanned. Boards slightly bumped, although gold lettering of title is bright and unfaded and the book is overall in very good condition for its age.
