The Paraguayan Experiment
by Michael Wilding.

Wilding’s novel about the New Australia venture led by William Lane which tried to establish a socialist colony of 400 hundred Australians in 1890s Paraguay. Wilding ingeniously merges historical documents with fiction to present an alternative case that the socialist project was deliberately sabotaged, history viewed through the contemporary 1980s narrative of counter leftist forces.
