by Richard Flanagan.

First Edition hardback. 404 pp.

“There is so much to savour in this rolling, picaresque tale of grotesques and their progress: so much unfettered imagination, so much sly irony and comic anarchy. Passages of Gould’s Book of Fish burn with the intense pleasure of story-making, of the abandon that comes from a seething of ideas and their joyful mutation into words.”
– Alex Clark, The Guardian, 1 June 2002.
Condition: A lovely production, which includes fine reproduction by the convict artist William Gould, whose story Flanagan tells. Former owner’s name with an inscription from the gift giver; protected in plastic sleeve rather wrinkled but can be removed without damaging the cover and has done the job. There is also with very minor rubbing to bottom boards. Overall, in very good condition.
