Description
Piper in the Market Place
by Kenneth Cook.
Heinemann, London, 1971.
First Edition hardback. 122 pp.
More niche horror from the author of Wake in Fright.
Cook’s novella about a Catholic rape victim’s doomed quest for abortion was dismissed at the time as a pro- life fable. The girl’s disturbed occult representation of the rape and her pregnancy, however, reads now as a fascinating antipodean reworking of Rosemary’s Baby.
Condition: A Rare copy. Unfortunately, the dustjacket is torn, badly worn along the flaps and the outer page edges are marked. Overall fair.
