About

St. Arnaud Books sells new and second-hand Australian titles, specialising in modern and contemporary fiction, poetry, history and current affairs. We also stock a selection of new and very beautiful children’s books.

We are located in the Wimmera town of St. Arnaud, a district with a rich place in our literature. The Wimmera is the setting for the brilliant cartoons of Percy Leason; the poetry of John Shaw Neilson; the play ‘Dimboola’ by Jack Hibberd; and more recently novels by Craig Sherborne, Tony Birch, Mark Brandi, Jane Harper and Gerald Murnane.

We celebrate the weird and the wonderful history of our books, their authors, publishers and designers on this site. We also love mass produced paperbacks and think reprints are often more fascinating than rare first editions for what they say about our culture.

You can find a selection of our books here.
