Catalogue of the inaugural temporary exhibition at the new St Kilda Road National Gallery of Victoria, of abstract and hard-edged sculptures and paintings of 74 unknown and emerging contemporary artists including Peter Booth, Janet Dawson David Aspen, Robert Hunter Ian Burn, Robert Jacks .The exhibition triggered predicable generational debate on whether the works were derivative of the New York school and / or anti-nationalist/ and/or signified a new internationalism in Australian art. A highwater mark in Australia’s endless culture wars.
Condition: The cover is marked with coffee cup or wine glass stains, and there are minor marks inside. Back flap is creased along the edge. Overall tight and in fair condition. Rare.
