Description

The Australian Tradition: Studies in a Colonial Culture
by A.A. Phillips.

FW Cheshire (Melbourne), for the Australian Book Society, 1958.
First Edition hardback.

A collection of essays by Phillips first published in Meanjin. Includes ‘The Cultural Cringe’, a seminal study of national inferiority and its paradoxical manifestations.

Condition: Dustjacket is intact, although there its edges are worn with a couple of small tears -not disfiguring. Former owner’s name is written on title page, but overall in very good condition.
