Prelude to Christopher
by Eleanor Dark.

Halstead Classics (imprint of Angus & Robertson), Sydney, 1999.
Reprint, paperback.

Cover illustration by Mahdi McCrae.

Originally published in New Triad magazine, Sydney, August 1927.

With its compressed time-frame and study of the tensions between contemporary eugenics and psychology, Dark blends modernism with the Gothic to produce her modern Frankenstein. First published by PR Stephenson in 1934, Prelude to Christopher won the Australian Literature Society Gold Medal. This edition put Prelude to Christopher back in print for the first time since 1961.

Condition: Cover creased top right-hand corner, slight curling to corners and edges, scratch on back, tanning to pages. Otherwise in good condition.
